Universal Design and Access Manager, National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities
Danie Marais joined the disability sector in 2001 at the Association for Persons with Disabilities Free State (APD FS). With interest in accessibility matters he gained extensive knowledge in Universal Design and Access, assistive devices and correct seating principles, and governance matters. He joined the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) in January 2011 and is currently the Universal Design and Access Manager at the NCPD. He is actively involved in various structures which promote equal participation and integration of persons with disabilities, including the Department of Public Works Disability Advisory Council, National Jury Member – Blue Flag Beaches (WESSA), South African Disability Alliance (SADA) Transport Sub-Committee, Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) Disability Advisory Forum, Member of the SABS TC60 100400-S Working Group (SANS 10400 Part S) and the SABS SC50 04 Committee.
