Sabine Lehmann has worked in the tourism and attractions industry for more than 20 years. Sabine was the Chief Operations Officer for the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa and opened the iconic museum to the public in September 2017. Prior to this she was the Managing Director of Table Mountain Cableway for more than 8 years. During her tenure as M.D she drove the successful international 3 year campaign to have Table Mountain voted as one of the New7Wonders of Nature. Sabine currently runs her own consultancy , Curiositas, focusing on understanding and managing visitor attractions and experiences as well as the the future of the tourism industry.
Sabine’s passion is the art and science of attractions management. She is the founder and chair of Attractions Africa, the only attractions conference on the African continent. The aim is to share case studies and learnings with fellow attraction managers so as to raise the benchmark for all. A further focus for Attractions Africa is to ensure that Africa’s emerging attractions industry is represented on an international stage. The conference is now in its 5th year attracting more than 120 delegates annually.
Sabine holds a BSc (Log), an MBA and a Masters’ Degree in Futures studies. Her thesis “Understanding the motivations of future middle-class domestic travellers to visit local attractions in South Africa” received a cum laude.
Sabine is a director of the Cape Wheel and a board member of the Groot Constantia Trust. She is a research associate for the Institute of Futures Research at Stellenbosch University and participates in the Global Scanning Network for the Copenhagen Futures Institute. Sabine is a contributing author for the book: Managing Tourism in SA, having written a chapter on Managing Visitor Attractions.
